Hermes Agent GAIA Level 1 – 53 real-world tasks on the same model and same machine
Accuracy · GAIA Level 1
Hermes Agent 37/53 solved. Grammar-constrained decoding (GBNF) forces structurally-valid tool calls; bounded tails keep reasoning on-budget.
217s vs 351s. cache_prompt + slot_id reuse across steps, plus parallel read-only batches that overlap I/O after a single inference.
Grammar-locked actions and step-by-step checks mean Atomic Agent rarely walks into an unrecoverable wrong answer.
↻ the loop repeats – KV-cache keeps each step cheap, nothing re-sent to a server
A task, in plain words, from the desktop app, the terminal or Telegram.
One pass on your own GPU returns a list of next actions — grammar-locked, always valid.
Browser, files and shell — in parallel. Pauses for approval on risky steps.
Loops with cached context, so each step stays fast — until it replies or you stop it.

A byte-stable prompt prefix means every turn reuses the same cached compute. Nothing is re-encoded, and inference stays on your own hardware.

Real production traffic: teams run Atomic Agent against cloud models through OpenRouter.

AI desktop assistant, answered.
An AI desktop assistant is an app on your computer that can act on your behalf, not only chat. Atomic Agent reads and edits files, runs commands, uses the browser and connects to other tools, asking for approval before risky steps.
Yes. The desktop app and the terminal version are free and open source under the MIT license. With a local model there is no token bill. If you connect a cloud model, you pay that provider for what you use.
Yes. There are signed builds for Windows x64 and ARM64 and macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon, and Linux builds for x64 and arm64 (AppImage and .deb). Intel Macs are not supported.
Yes, with a local model. The model, the agent loop and the memory run on your computer, so tasks on local files work offline. Web search and browsing need a connection, of course.
Not by default. Writing files, running commands, sending email and posting under your name go through an approval prompt. You can make it stricter or looser, from asking every time to running routine steps on its own.
Start with the local model the app suggests for your hardware. For long, complex tasks a cloud model through OpenRouter is stronger. You can switch at any time without losing chats or memory.
